So does shark fishing sound like fun???
You bet it is...Bryan and Rachel Bell wanted to give it a try, they had done the trolling trips and wanted something different, and they like to eat shark.
We left late afternoon and ran to the tip of the cape with plenty of chum and some old leftover northern mackerel for bait. The tides were running out and conditions were good, I started by chopping up old mackerel and filling my chum bag, I then added some fish oil to that and lowered it down several feet on my downrigger. We rigged spinning gear and one conventional rig with 3 ozs weight and baited up a big butterflyed mackeral, sent it to the bottom. I was rigging a 3rd line to flatline and Ryan had a fish on....one of 9 caught, all about the same size, and big fun on medium size tackle.
The bite was steady for 2 hours and we fished til Rachel's arms got tired, and the nice thing, we were right against the most beautiful beaches in the panhandle...the st joe point...they took a few minutes break and picked up shells....
just another day in Paradise!
