The Floridaze fishing team fished the Hubbard kids event at Baypoint Marina friday and had a absolute blast. This is an annual event to benefit local organizations that provide for displaced children. Most of the kids have never been on the water and had a "fishing experience" and it was a thrill. I don't know you had the most fun, the captain or the kids!! We left from the Baypoint marina just like the big tournament boats that were fishing the billfish tournament, a cannon shot and boat parade as we left, along with local TV coverage and press interviews on return. We had 2 local girls and their chaperone, the fishing started a little slow, so the girls learned about boats and were driving "floridaze" and reading the GPS and bottom finder. Then we hit a spot at the edge of a flat where the water dropped off quickly into the channel, we hooked up a nice sandshark and the fight was on! The smallest girl in the group along with help from my 1st mate and grandson Chad landed the shark after a good fight, the fish took drag and Paige got to experience a fish that didn't want to be landed....
We ended the day with a "mud hole slam", a shark, catfish, and bluefish!!! and 5th place overall!!!!!
