Whats a guy to do, amberjack closed/ red snapper closed/ grouper restrictions....bah humbug...
Vermillion snapper or bee-liners as we call em....taste like snapper and you can keep 10 per person with a 12 inch minimum. They are plentiful and available in 45-120 ft, so you don't have to go far. We used a spanish mackerel tree with a 2 oz weight in place of the spoon, then tipped with squid. The tree's are the ones with the tubes over the hooks and can catch 3-4 at a time.
Triggerfish also get in the action, use light spinning tackle and enjoy these tasty alternatives.
